The Browning Hi Power (GP-35)

For our first post, I wanted talk a bit about the weapon that, at least in my opinion, symbolizes a true “ only one gun” gun, or an “out the door right now” weapon.

Meaning, if I had to go out the door right now and only take one firearm, that weapon would be a Hi Power 9mm.

Why? Because its the most prolific, most successful handgun design of all times, world wide.

It fires the most popular center fire handgun cartridge, the 9mm Parabellum.
Somewhere, somehow, no matter where you are in the world, you can get a bunch of 9mm shells for your Hi Power.

Parts are easy to find everywhere, its easy to repair and hard as an anvil, specially the ones with forged steel frames.

Maybe today there are weapons with more capacity, but you can still find 15 and 19 round mags for it, and properly tuned it’s as accurate as the best of them.

Ammo is cheap enough for lots of practice, and with the right ammo it can effectively stop man or beast ( though it’s a bit on the weak side against large predators)

This is the kind of gun you can use all your life, and hand it over to your son for at least another lifetime of service, and it will probably be a popular weapon design even then.

I have just started reading a few of your blogs and I want to thank you for the time you have spent to explain what you have and what you have done for your survival. I am from the US and things are starting to not look good here, and for the first time I am starting to think I need to buy a cheap piece of land and put a small house on it and prepare myself for what may happen in the years to come. Most people in the US have never been faced with the events that you have in your country, but that does not mean it cannot happen. All these big governments are corrupt and do not care about us. Anyway, God bless you and your family and I hope things are getting better in your part of the world.

In your book, you wrote that we should get a Glock.

A Glock is no doubt a better firearm. In Argentina, up to a few years ago, the Hi Power was by far the most prolifent handgun and therefore the easist one to get parts for and spare magaznies.
